WHAT WE OFFER

Accreditation & Qualifications
Information Services

The Accreditation and Qualification Information Services (AQIS) is a career pathway and career planning service aiming to guide internationally trained professionals on their career options and gain foreign credential recognition in Canada. Once they receive our services, newcomer clients will obtain clear, step-by-step information on how to achieve the licensure or certification required to practice their profession in Canada, enabling them to establish their career goals.

Our services for newcomers include one-on-one meetings, portfolio workshops, sector-specific and general forums, and information sessions for clients and community partners.

The AQIS specialists answer all the following questions.

  • Am I qualified to work in my profession in Canada?
  • Do I need to get a professional license?
  • Will my education and work experience get recognized?
  • What are my career options?

During the one-on-one meeting, information that we discuss with clients are:

  • Professional license/certification requirements and application procedures
  • Accredited/approved training programs and bridge training programs
  • University and Public College application procedures and requirements
  • Translation/interpretation services
  • Financial support for training and licensing
  • Alternative career options
  • Academic credential assessment
  • Programs offering co-op/internship opportunities
  • Network and mentoring opportunities

A customized action plan is emailed to the client after the meeting containing all the information discussed during the meeting.

Portfolio workshops are delivered to Welcome Centre clients on a monthly basis. In this workshop, we guide clients on how to create a professional portfolio, how to create an E-portfolio, and how to present it to employers to showcase their skills.

The AQIS Team is diverse. Team members speak over 13 languages. Interpretation service is also available on request.
